Children’s Activities

The Junior Clubhouse is a focal point for the younger members. Over one hundred children learn to sail, swim and play tennis at the club each season. Good sportsmanship and teamwork are emphasized. Certified instructors teach all levels of sailing, swimming and tennis.Inter-club sailing races, swim meets and tennis tournaments are conducted throughout the season. In addition, there are pool parties, dances, picnics, barbecues and various outings. Two separate, four-week sessions are held, culminating in an Awards Supper.

Social Activities

Originally, all social activities centered around sailing. However, since many of our members are new to the sport or are devoted landlubbers, a more diverse social calendar has evolved. Our Winter Buffet Fundraiser at the Club in February is a popular and profitable tradition. The proceeds from these functions have been used for capital improvement programs such as Junior Yacht Club renovations, major renovations of the kitchen in the main Yacht Club, new windows in the main Yacht Club dining room, refurbishing the tennis court, and renewing the bulk heading and boardwalk.
